Rubber Mould Problems We Help You Solve

Many rubber mold buyers struggle with unstable tooling quality, excessive flash, poor venting design, inconsistent dimensions and long mold modification cycles.

At SENSES MOLD, our engineering and tooling teams help customers reduce manufacturing risks before production starts through early-stage DFM evaluation, mold structure optimization and production-oriented tooling design. Common issues we help prevent:

As an IATF 16949 certified rubber mold factory in Guangdong, China, we focuses on tooling stability, repeatability and long-term production reliability for automotive, medical and industrial applications.

Three Rubber Mold Types. One Decision That Affects Every Part You Produce.

Choosing the wrong rubber mold type means higher tooling costs, more flash to trim, shorter mold life, or parts that fail dimensional inspection. We manufacture all three major rubber mold tooling types — compression molds, transfer molds, and LSR (liquid silicone rubber) molds — from our IATF 16949 and ISO 9001 certified facility in Guangdong, China. Use the comparison below to identify the right tooling for your application, or submit your drawing for a free DFM recommendation within 24 hours.

Most Economical

Compression Mold

A pre-weighed rubber blank is placed directly into an open mold cavity. Heat and press pressure cure the material into shape. The simplest and most cost-efficient rubber mold tooling method — ideal when part geometry is straightforward and high precision is not the primary requirement.

  • Suitable For: Large rubber parts, Thick-wall rubber products, Simple geometry rubber components, Medium to high-volume production.
  • Key Advantages: Lower mold tooling cost, Shorter mold manufacturing lead time, Stable production performance.
  • Typical Products: Rubber gaskets, Rubber seals, Anti-vibration rubber parts, Rubber pads, Industrial rubber components.
  • Compatible Materials: NR, EPDM, NBR, SBR, CR
Compression Mold
Higher Precision

Transfer Mold

Material is placed in a pot above the cavity and forced through sprues into the closed mold. Ideal for complex geometries, insert molding, and tighter tolerances than standard compression molding.

  • Suitable For: Intricate part designs, Overmolding with metal inserts, Medium-sized precise rubber components.
  • Key Advantages: Shorter production cycle times, Better dimensional control, Less flash on finished parts.
  • Typical Products: Complex electrical connectors, Lip seals, Diaphragms, Specialized valve seals.
  • Compatible Materials: EPDM, Silicon, Viton, NBR
Transfer Mold
Fully Automated

LSR Mold

High-precision injection molding for liquid silicone rubber. Outstanding biological compatibility, extreme thermal stability, and perfect for automated high-volume medical or consumer grade components.

  • Suitable For: Medical-grade devices, Food-contact parts, High-volume automated production lines.
  • Key Advantages: Extremely high precision, Flashless processing, Outstanding product consistency.
  • Typical Products: Medical valves, Baby bottle nipples, Waterproof seals, Consumer electronics skin-contact parts.
  • Compatible Materials: Liquid Silicone Rubber (Platinum-cured)

Not Sure Which Mold Type You Need?

Send Your Drawing — Our Engineers Will Recommend the Right Mold in 24H

Send us your 2D or 3D drawing in any format (STEP, DWG, IGES, or PDF) and our engineering team will deliver a free Design for Manufacturability (DFM) report within 24 hours — including the recommended mold type, steel grade, and a detailed quotation. Your drawing is protected by a signed NDA before any engineer reviews it. Serving customers in 50+ countries from our IATF 16949 certified facility in Guangdong, China.

Rubber Mold Process: From Drawing to Delivery

Every custom rubber mold we manufacture — whether a compression mold, transfer mold, or LSR mold — follows the same rigorous six-step process. We designed it to be fully transparent so that procurement managers and engineers at every stage know exactly what is happening, when it will be done, and what documentation they will receive. Our rubber mold manufacturing facility in Guangdong, China holds both ISO 9001:2015 and IATF 16949 certification, meaning every step below meets automotive-grade quality standards.

01

Drawing Submission & IP Protection

Send us your 2D or 3D drawing in any format — STEP, IGES, DWG, DXF, or even a hand-sketched PDF. Before a single engineer opens your file, we sign a mutual Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA). Your design, dimensions, and application remain strictly confidential throughout the entire rubber mold manufacturing process. A dedicated project engineer is then assigned to your account as your single point of contact from quotation to delivery.

  • STEP / IGES / DWG / PDF accepted
  • Dedicated project engineer
  • 2D drawings also accepted
  • NDA signed before review
02

Free DFM Analysis & Mold Quotation

Within 24 hours of receiving your drawing, our engineering team delivers a Design for Manufacturability (DFM) report — at no charge. The DFM covers recommended mold type (compression, transfer, or LSR), optimal steel grade, cavity layout, parting line, and any design risks that could affect part quality or mold longevity. A detailed mold quotation and confirmed lead time are issued alongside the DFM, so you have everything needed to make a decision without a single back-and-forth delay.

  • DFM report — free of charge
  • Mold type recommendation
  • Steel grade selection
  • Quotation + lead time
03

Mold Design Review & Order Confirmation

Once you approve the DFM and quotation, a 50% deposit confirms production. Our mold designers produce complete 3D mold design drawings — including cavity layout, cooling channels, ejection system, and runner design — for your review and written approval before any steel is ordered or cut. This approval checkpoint eliminates the most common source of mold revision disputes and ensures your custom rubber mold tooling is built exactly to specification from the very first cut.

  • 50% deposit to confirm
  • 3D mold design for approval
  • No steel cut before sign-off
  • IATF 16949 design review
04

CNC Machining, EDM & Surface Finishing

Mold fabrication begins with high-precision CNC machining to ±0.005mm, followed by EDM (Electrical Discharge Machining) to achieve intricate cavity geometries at ±0.005mm. Mold steel options include P20 (general purpose), H13 (LSR and high-temperature), S136 (medical-grade mirror finish), and 718H (extended service life). Surface finishing — mirror polish Ra0.4, grain texture, hard chrome, or nitriding — is completed to your specification. Progress photos are shared at each major machining milestone.

  • CNC ±0.005mm
  • EDM ±0.005mm
  • P20 / H13 / S136 / 718H
  • Progress photos shared
05

Mold Trial (T1) & Sample Part Approval

The completed rubber mold undergoes a full T1 trial run under production conditions. A minimum of three to five sample parts are produced and 100% dimensionally inspected against your drawing tolerances using our CMM coordinate measuring machine. A complete First Article Inspection (FAI) report is issued with every dimension recorded. Physical samples are shipped to you for review and written approval before any mass-production tooling or cavities are released — so you never accept a mold that doesn't perform to spec.

  • T1 mold trial run
  • CMM dimensional inspection
  • FAI report included
  • Physical samples shipped
